THE METHOD…… to gorgeous yummy cold weather tummy hugging lovelyness
Heat a sturdy frying pan and add oil… move the oil around a bit to cover the base or the pan… this will be easier in a hot pan where the oil has had time to heat up.
Crush the stock cube and garlic clove and add them to the pan.
Add sliced onion and fry until they start to brown.
When they start to brown add just enough water to cover the bas of the pan NOT THE ONIONS.
Add the diced beef and fry until browned… to make sure not just the outside of the meat has browned, make sure that lil bit of water is covering the pan base and turn the heat down… this will ensure the meat is cooked through.
>>>>> you may need to add more water to keep the base covered while waiting for the meat to cook through…. for my 500g diced beef this didnt take more than about 5 minutes (if that).
When youre happy that the meat is cooked, turn the heat back up and make sure theres about half a CM of water covering the pan base.
Add about a table spoon of gravy granules and stir well into meat/ onions/ water.
Add a pinch of sugar and a pinch of sage (sage optional but gooood).
Serve hot….. gorgeous with home made mashed potatoes, carrots and spring greens. (master N LOVES the left over onion gravy poured over his mashed potato YUMMY)
